Drug treatment for multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii infections. |
Very few drugs work on Acinetobacter bacteria and they are becoming resistant to the very broad spectrum Imipenem agent. Because of this a new antibiotic was developed in 2005 to treat these highly resistant bugs. It is called Tigecycline and in a new class of drug called glycylcyclines.
