Bryon's response to this article... The Claim: Artificial Sweeteners Can Raise Blood Sugar published in the New York Times.

The alcohol sugars do have some caloric value and SLIGHTLY raise blood sugars.  The problem with any sugar is that when eaten alone there is nothing to slow down digestion.  When we have any carbohydrate with some fat or protein the processing through the stomach is spread out.  So a real sugar that has the half power of table sugar and contains zero of the fructose that is responsible for diabetes we are much better off with this disease.  While if we only look at blood sugars we can measure some increase with the grain sugars but still do not end up with diabetes.  No sugar should be eaten without a fat or protein and this is why things like the shortbread cookies are not all that bad because they contain so much lard as does pie.

The problem with the artificial sweeteners is that they are like a protein steroid but based on sugar and cause human fat cells to hyper grow and cancer goes wild with them.

The grain sugar fools cancer intro starting to grow but cannot build any cell walls and dies.  The same holds true for bacteria.  Still we can measure an increase in blood sugars but the diseases are reducing but are not being monitored.

The grain sugars increase blood sugars slightly.  Exercise increases green house gasses slightly.  In both cases our body is healthier.

This is not intended to make any claim nor is it intended to be a diagnosis.  It is my opinion. -- Bryon
